Over 5000 voters gave Save Madibeng a clear mandate to aggregate their interests and aspirations and to articulate them in the council chamber. Save Madibeng has committed itself to ensure that the interests of the people are advanced inside the council and further outside the council.

Save Madibeng believes the people are the cornerstone of the modern democracy and it will never lose touch with the people to know what they seek.

In Sonop, the people want title deeds: This matter of Sonop’s title deeds does not need an IDP meeting. It needs the officials to fast track this. Save Madibeng will raise this one way or the other. In Letlhabile, the internal roads and modern infrastructure, in Damonsville, the people want a high school. In Brits, the business people and residents need proper services, etc. In fact, all areas in Madibeng requires better services. for an example, the people aspire Madibeng to be a stand alone municipality in Gauteng.

The success of Save Madibeng will depend on its proximity to the people. We have heard prophets of doom expressing their views about Save Madibeng and some of them proudly writing our obituary and boldly tell their crew that Save Madibeng is going nowhere.

Save Madibeng will this year foster a genuine partnership with community activists across Madibeng to ensure that the people’s interests are taken forward. This week the executive committee led by its Convener – Saver Sydney Monnakgotla will meet to diagnose our challenges as the movement and further to think and plan for the long term and ensure that those plans are sustainable irrespective of circumstance that may arise in future. Moreover, the Exco will meet with all the clusters of Save Madibeng to ensure that our wards become the cornerstone of Save Madibeng.
